When my sons' car radio/CD player was stolen we decided not to replace it since the car was a 1999 model. Well, I just happened to see this Sony player on sale. I'm not very savvy on car radios but the site that I visited not only gives all the specifications, they even have an area which tells you if the player is compatible with your car model and year.. I purchased it and had it installed just in time for their birthday and Christmas. They told me that the quality and sound is very good and better yet the price. They also like the fact that they could use it with their iPod. I have to say that any item I have ordered from Amazon had either come on time or earlier than anticipated.

This is a great car stereo. It sounds great and works well with iPod. The built-in iPod navigation is fairly easy, and you get used to it quickly. There are two minor issues that are the reasons for four stars instead of five. The first issue is the AM radio. In some areas it does not pick up any signals, and in other areas the signals come through just fine. I haven't quite figured out why this is. Since I have installed this myself (having never done one before), perhaps there was an installation mistake, but the FM radio has no problems. (Has anyone else had this issue?) The second issue is that the passenger mode is not available with my particular iPod. This is strange because I have a Sony bookshelf system at home, and I can used both the stereo and the iPod to navigate my music library. Perhaps the home stereo department and the car stereo department at Sony need to speak to each other. There is a newer model that costs $25 to $30 more than this one, but other than the radio displaying song titles, I couldn't find any difference. Overall, this is a solid product, and I recommend it to anyone looking to replace the mediocre stereo that came with the car.

Pros: Great Sound Quality with lots of sound shaping options like DSO so that it sounds more full in your car instead of at your feet. Contrast control for a brighter display, yet an automatic dimming feature that allows you to not be blinded at night. IPOD 3RD GEN FRIENDLY!!! Easy to adapt and IF YOU READ THE OWNERS MANUAL, you will find out how to control it from either the head or your iPod. Other Reviews I have seen say you have to wait a long time to get back to the main page but you can easily hit the Return Key next to the volume button. Separate Sub outs, high and low outs for easy amping plus a low pass filter and high pass filter.

Cons: The only thing I wish it had was the EQ7 instead of the EQ3 but I was spoiled by my old Xplod Head.

Other Thoughts: If this were Stolen, I'd buy another in a heartbeat... if it ever breaks, I will buy another in a heartbeat. I did my homework and this is the HU that caught my attention from the very start and it is well worth every penny that I paid. If you have any questions on the Head unit, I would be more than happy to answer them.

I bough the stereo about 2 months ago. so far it is working good. I bought the harness for a mitsubishi galant and the stereo worked just fine.

The sound is clear and effiecient, the navigation of the system is just a bit hard to get used to but once it is used continously it is no problem.

However my only complaint is that i cannot play my 32gb usb on the system because apparently it only reads like 1/3 of the memory, so that's that.

I would recommend this product to you.
